CMAT Notifications

The Common Management Admission Test, commonly known as CMAT 2017, is conducted by AICTE for admissions to PGDM and MBA programmes across its participating institutes. CMAT 2017 is a computer based test in which approximately 75,000 candidates appear every year. The application process for the academic session 2017-19 will start from the month of November 2016, and the test will be conducted in January.

From 2016 onwards, CMAT will be conducted once a year.

Indian graduates from a recognized university/institution with minimum 50% marks are eligible to apply for CMAT. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must have a minimum 45% marks at their graduation level. Final year graduate can also apply for the test.

The application process is completely online. Students have to fill the online application form mentioning their personal, academic and contact details. They are also required to upload 2 scanned photographs and their signature during the process. The application fee can be paid via 3 modes- Net Banking, Credit Card/Debit Card and Bank Challan.

The CMAT officials will send the admit card candidates on their registered e-mail id. The admit card will have details like date of the test, time and venue of the exam-centre. The admit card of CMAT 2017 will be sent two weeks prior to the test date. It is mandatory for test-takers to carry a proof of document for photo id along with the admit card which could be any one of the following,

  • Driving License
  • PAN Card
  • Passport
  • Voter ID

Along with the above mentioned, it is mandatory for SC/ST and PWD candidates to carry a valid proof of caste certificate along with their admit cards.

CMAT 2017 is a computer based objective type multiple choice test of 3 hours. There will be 4 sections, Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness, each consisting of 25 questions. The total number of questions to be answered is 100 and the total marks of the test is 400. There is a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. It is expected that the CMAT 2017 exam pattern remains same as last year.

The CMAT 2017 result will be announced in the form of ranks, tentatively on January 21, 2016. The officials will also release the score cards from the same date, having sectional and overall scores of the candidates. The CMAT 2017 scores will be valid for a year.

The selection process of CMAT consists three steps. Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their cutoff, scores or ranks and will be called for the below-given rounds,

  • Written Ability Test (WAT)
  • Group Discussion (GD)
  • Personal Interview (PI)

The evaluation process of each round of the selection process will differ from one b-school to another.

AICTE, the conducting of CMAT, will declare the cutoff of CMAT 2017 for shortlisting students for further admission process. CMAT cutoff 2017 is the minimum marks on the basis of which a candidate will be shortlisted for the CMAT 2017 Selection procedure.

The admission process of CMAT 2017 is conduct by AICTE to post graduation management programmes or MBA at different AICTE affiliated participating institutes. According to CMAT officials, there are approx 1000 B-schools that accepts admission on the basis of CMAT scores.
